Tripper Mansfield Named Kiwanian of the Year by the Buckhead Atlanta Kiwanis

(Atlanta, GA) October 14, 2008 – The Buckhead Community Bank is proud to announce that Tripper Mansfield, Senior Vice President of The Buckhead Community Bank, has been named Kiwanian of the Year by the Kiwanis Club of Buckhead.

“I am thrilled to be a part of this club because it has such a direct impact on the children of Atlanta,” Mansfield says. “Through outstanding organizations like the Ronald McDonald House and Hillside Hospital, we contribute over $200,000 per year to charities.”

Kiwanis is an organization devoted to the principle of service, the advancement of individual, community, and national welfare. The Kiwanis Club of Atlanta meets weekly to address topics such as politics, business, civic, health, sports and technology.

“The Kiwanis Club has been a great resource for me both personally and professionally,” Mansfield says. “Members are involved in all sorts of civic affairs, not-for-profit organizations and educational programs. These are relationships that last a lifetime.”

Sarah Gaither Named Assistant Vice President of The Buckhead Community Bank

(Atlanta, GA) July 29, 2008 – Donna Kain, President of Private and Entrepreneurial Banking at The Buckhead Community Bank, announced today that Sarah Gaither has been promoted to an Assistant Vice President and Relationship Manager in the Private and Entrepreneurial Banking Division.

“I am so pleased to announce that Sarah will take on this new position with our bank,” Kain says. “Our goal is to continue to provide ‘first-class’ banking to our customers, and she will maintain our high standard of customer service here in the Private Banking Division.”

Originally from Washington, Georgia, Gaither earned her Associates Degree in Business from Young Harris College and her Bachelor of Business Administration at Georgia College and State University. Prior to joining the Buckhead Community Bank in 2005, Gaither was a Mortgage Loan Officer with
First Choice Financial Corporation.

“I am really looking forward to getting the opportunity to strengthen current client relationships with The Buckhead Community Bank,” Gaither says. “My goal is to develop resources and tools that will help the bank continue to grow.”

An active member of the community, Gaither has been involved with the Georgia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for the last two years. She currently lives in Canton with her husband and two year old daughter.

Madeline Rowan Named SBA Division Manager and Senior Vice President of The Buckhead Community Bank

(Atlanta, GA) July 29, 2008 – Marvin Cosgray, President and CEO of The Buckhead Community Family of Banks announced today that Madeline Rowan has been named SBA Division Manager and Senior Vice President of The Buckhead Community Bank.

“Madeline is the ideal person to head up our SBA Division,” Cosgray says. “She has a great understanding of commercial lending and was a former attorney with the U.S. Small Business Administration. Her experience is a real advantage in helping our SBA clients.”

Originally from Niagara Falls, New York, Rowan earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology
and Criminal Justice from Niagara University
and her Juris Doctorate from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. She is also a licensed attorney in the state of New York. Prior to joining the Buckhead Community Bank in 2006, Rowan worked as an attorney for the
U.S Small Business Administration.

“I am a firm believer that small business is the primary factor in the overall economic strength of our nation,” Rowan says. “At a time that presents economic challenges for many, the American Dream is still very much alive and well within reach. I look forward to leading a team of seasoned professionals with years of SBA and commercial lending experience in assisting those with the will, desire and commitment to achieve their entrepreneurial dreams.”

An active member of the community, Rowan volunteers for several community youth sports organizations. Today she lives in Atlanta with her husband and two sons.

CBA of GA Leadership Division Elects Katherine Kay as Vice Chair

(Atlanta, GA) -The Community Bankers Association of Georgia’s (CBA) Leadership Division Board of Directors elected new Division Five officers at the 30th Annual Leadership Division Convention and Mini-Trade Show, held June 25-29, 2008, at the Grand Floridian, Walt Disney World, Orlando, FL. The new Division Five Chair is Bill Mosby, Peoples Bank, Lithonia, and the new Division Five Vice-Chair is Katherine Kay, Buckhead Community Bank, Atlanta. CBA would like to congratulate Mosby & Kay and wish them a most successful year.

CBA's Leadership Division was created in 1980 to educate future bank leaders on the current “hot topics” in the industry and prepare them for further leadership roles in their institutions. The Leadership Division works closely with schools and other organizations in their communities to educate young and old about community banking and other financial topics. Each year the Leadership Division conducts several fund-raisers that benefit Children’s Healthcare as well.

ATLANTA MAGAZINE’S 2008 BEST PLACES TO WORK ANNOUNCED
Buckhead Community Bank tops the list of companies where employees love their jobs

ATLANTA – In the July 2008 issue, Atlanta magazine publishes its first ranking of the city’s best places to work. The list of forty exceptional companies includes a bank, several law firms, a radio station, a dog daycare, and a lingerie manufacturer. “What is common across all these companies is attention to employee welfare and creating an environment where people feel invested in their jobs,” says Rebecca Burns, editor in chief. “Our survey put employees first- then looked at hard data on benefits, salaries, turnover, and other factors.”

To start the process of compiling the list, Atlanta magazine asked city residents “do you love your job?” and solicited nominations at atlantamagazine.com. Between August 2007 and January 2008, 725 employees nominated 176 work places. They were asked to rank the validity of twenty statements to determine their level of job satisfaction. The ranking process, as well as the employee survey and company profile form used later in the process, was created with input from management experts at Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, and local human resource firms.

The list was narrowed to 100 companies by averaging scores from the nomination forms. Thus, an employer’s likelihood of moving past the nomination stage was determined not by number of nominations but by overall score. In this way, smaller companies were not placed at a disadvantage (though a minimum of fifty employees was required for eligibility). Those 100 companies completed a profile, which detailed benefits, perks, policies, growth, etc. These factors were assigned point values for tabulation purposes. Again, weighting was determined with the assistance of our panel of experts. In addition, 20 percent of each company’s workforce or 100 employees (whichever was less) completed a survey in which they ranked statements such as: “I am compensated fairly”; “I am given the opportunity to develop professionally”; and “I am proud to work for this company”. In total, 5,201 employees participated in this round of surveying. The results were averaged and combined with the points earned from the profile form to determine our top forty. “In today’s economy, as people are being asked to do more and resources are limited, putting employee welfare first isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s a smart thing to do from a business perspective,” says Burns. “Our survey is unique because nominations came from employees, not management. That’s a testament to how successful these forty employers are at generating workplaces people love.”

Dawn Kinard Named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Buckhead Community Bank

(Atlanta, GA) March 13, 2008 – Marvin Cosgray, President and CEO of The Buckhead Community Family of Banks announced today that Dawn Kinard has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Buckhead Community Bank.

“Dawn has an impressive nine year career in banking,” Cosgray says. “She will maintain our high level of customer service and ensure that the bank remains well-capitalized.”
